On Vera Season 10 Episode 3 – “Dirty”, A young man is found dead by binmen, and it looks like he’s been attacked, his body is covered in bruises, though the fatal blow was a strike to the head. Vera and her little gang discover that the victim worked punishing shifts for a commercial cleaning company, where he was liked and respected.

But he had a difficult, tragic history, his dad was killed by a burglar years before and the lad carried a huge burden of sadness and guilt. It’s an unexpectedly poignant story and one where Vera (Brenda Blethyn) clearly finds it hard to separate herself from her duty as she digs deep into the past to uncover all manner of lies and unhappiness.
